Her skin looks the best it has ever been and she couldn't be happier.

Reddit user Obvious_Pink was responding to a question on the forum.

"What habits and lifestyle changes had the most significant positive impact on your appearance?" asked one Redditor.

Obvious_Pink was categorical about hers but they might seem counter-intuitive for other beauty fans.

"I ditched exfoliants and activities on my face," she said in the Reddit thread.

It was, she said, one of the best things she had ever done for her complexion.

"[It was] literally life-changing for my skin," she wrote.

Her new skincare routine happened by accident but it was serendipitous for her.

"It just so happened that I ran out of everything while traveling," she wrote.

She didn't want to splash out on cosmetics, so she decided to make do.

Having suffered from reactive skin and acne in the past, this was the best thing she had ever done.

Her skincare regimen has been reduced to just four essential elements.

I’m 31 but people think I’m 21 – my skincare schedule helps me look a decade younger, I double cleanse every night

"Now I'm only double cleansing at night and using gentle moisturizer and face cream with SPF," she said.

The results of this trimmed-down skincare has been miraculous.

"My skin is the best it's been in a couple of years," she said.

But there was one element that she had special praise for.

"Good lord, that hydrolipidic barrier is really the key," she wrote.

Dermatologist-approved anti-aging tips

Dermatologist Dr. Brendan Camp shared his dermatologist-approved tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Stop using tanning beds.
  • Don't use sunscreen to contour your face.
  • Wear driving gloves to protect your hands from the sun. He likes Coolibar Gannett UV Gloves UPF 50+, $15.99 to $39.
  • Exercise, stick to a healthy diet, and get enough sleep.
  • Don't drink excessively or smoke.

The hydrolipidic barrier keeps the skin hydrated and prevents moisture loss, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple.

There was agreement with her stripped-down routine from commenters.

"Exactly. Less is more when it comes to skincare. Harsh products are not good," said one person.

"My routine is super basic and simple and my skin looks great," they added.

"Same experience here. I ran out of products and ended up simplifying my routine to cleanse, moisturize, and SPF. I rarely ever get a spot and my dryness issue has completely cleared up," added a second person.

A third person took another approach.

"For me, it was definitely quitting junk food and intoxicants, prioritizing sleep, double-cleansing, yoga, and going for daily walks," they said.
