Though most of us complain about the grass being greener elsewhere, influencer Bo doesn’t have that issue.

Unlike other amateur gardeners, the DIY whizz has found an easy way to improve his lawn – without using harsh chemicals or expensive fertiliser.

Even more impressively, this nifty tip is completely free (yes, you read that right).

Sharing the gardening tip as part of his ‘Dad Advice’ series on TikTok, the influencer revealed that people often forget one key step when trying to patch up their lawn.

Rather than just scattering seeds and hoping that they will take, the DIY expert suggests ‘roughing up’ your lawn with a rake before doing this.

He explained: “If you have bare spots in your lawn that you want to fill in with new grass, make sure you rough up the dirt first [and then] add the grass seed.”

While it sounds too good to be true, breaking apart any clumps in the soil will mean the new grass is less likely to get caught in your mower as it’s able to take root more easily.

This wasn’t the only advice the content creator though, with him adding that you also need to add a light layer of new dirt over the top.

For those that are curious, this helps to protect the seeds from pests and provide extra nutrients – depending on the type of soil you use.

In fact, you should use both of these tips whether you are adding grass seeds or new turf – according to experts.

However, Bo was far from done with the DIY tips.

As you are probably aware, Spring is the time when your lawn grows the most with regular downpours and sunny spells providing the perfect growing conditions.

If you are finding that you have to mow the lawn more than once a week, then there is an easy way to check to known when your lawn mower blade needs replacing.

The influencer told fans: “After you mow, if the ends of your grass looks ripped instead of cut, then that means you need to replace or sharpen your lawn mower blades.”

While his channel is filled with tons of usual life advice, there is a heart breaking reason why Bo started posting on the app.

Better known as @dadadvicefrombo on TikTok, the doting dad started the channel as a way to pay for his daughter’s medical care.

Despite being a happy, healthy student, his daughter Emily was suddenly diagnosed with a brain injury that turned her world upside down.

While the family are still searching for answers, the dad has thanked his fans for their continued support.
