For a limited time, American consumers will be able to taste a flavor from far, far away - the blue milk seen being sipped by Luke Skywalker in the original “Star Wars” movie.

In a collaboration between Disney subsidiary Lucasfilm and multiple brands produced by the Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) marketing cooperative, TruMoo blue milk is now available nationwide.

The release was timed ahead of the May 4 anniversary of the film’s 1977 premiere, which the franchise’s fans mark as “Star Wars Day.”



The milk is 1% fat and vanilla flavored, per a website launched to promote the limited-time offering, and is being sold in half-gallon containers.

While the site shows images of TruMoo blue milk, it is also being sold under the Kemps brand, also marketed by DFA.

“With the mass cross-generational appeal that the Star Wars franchise offers, we’re excited to see fans of all ages indulging in this delicious beverage,” DFA Dairy Brands Senior Vice President of Innovation and Marketing Rachel Kyllo told USA Today.

The blue milk will be available through July, according to USA Today.

It is different from the two colored milks sold at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge areas at Disneyland Resort in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, part of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Both “milks” sold at the Disney parks are a blend of coconut and rice milk, while this is a true dairy product.

The blue variety sold at the theme parks has a fruit-based taste, while the green variety, which is based off milk drank by Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi,” has “citrus and tropical characteristics,” according to the Disneyland website.
