VA facilities in Wisconsin will host medication take-back events to allow the public to safely dispose of expired or unused prescriptions, including controlled substances.
The disposal days are scheduled as part of the VA's nationwide initiative to combat prescription drug abuse and ensure the safe handling of medications.
The events will take place at the following times and locations:
- April 26, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Green Bay VA Clinic, 2851 University Ave., using the front entrance.
- April 26, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Appleton VA Clinic, 10 Tri Park Way, also at the front entrance.
- April 27, at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, 5000 W. National Ave., utilizing the east entrance.
Participants will have the option to drive up to the facility entrance to receive pre-paid postal envelopes for medication disposal or to park and use secure disposal receptacles.
This initiative is in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and invites all community members, regardless of veteran status.
VA enrolled Veterans can bring any expired or unused medications to the VA facilities for proper disposal.
