IT is every snooker player's dream to lift the World Championship crown - and the prize money makes the victory that little bit sweeter.

Luca Brecel is the reigning champion after pulling off an incredible comeback to beat Mark Selby 18-15 during the 2023 final.

And as a result, the Belgian superstar took home a winning prize of £500,000.

However, Brecel will NOT be earning that prize again this year, after he suffered a shock first-round defeat to David Gilbert.

The World Snooker Championships are now well underway with players fighting for the huge prize at the Crucible.

What is the World Snooker Championship 2024 prize money?

The prize money will be unchanged from Luca Brecel's winnings in 2023.

There will also be bonus funds to be won during the main stage of the tournament.

When is the World Snooker Championship 2024?

  • The World Snooker Championship 2024 will get underway on Saturday, April 20 before concluding on Monday, May 6.
  • Specific match times will be revealed closer to the start date but games are scheduled to start at 10am, 2.30pm and 7pm BST.
  • The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield is the chosen venue for this huge tournament and it can host approximately 980 seated fans.
  • Luca Brecel held off Mark Williams to win his first title during the 2023 edition.

Ronnie O'Sullivan has admitted that he has got to stop overcomplicating his game if he is to finally claim an eighth World Snooker Championship.

Speaking after his Tour Championship final loss to Mark Williams, the Rocket said: "A lot of players like John Higgins, Neil Robertson and maybe Judd [Trump] they don’t overcomplicate things like me.

"They’re not as complex as me. I just need to try and play; I need to stop being too hard on myself."
