But don't take shortcuts and skip the "gold standard in anti-aging skincare."

This is a regime that has to be followed religiously for the best outcome.

"Our skin is a reflection of our overall health and well-being," said Dr. Doris Day, a board-certified dermatologist.

Aging is inevitable, but maintaining a glowing visage without resorting to invasive procedures is possible.

"Incorporating the right products into your daily routine can make a significant difference in how your skin ages," she said.

Follow her tips, and she insisted your skin "will thank you for the love and care you invest in it."

She added that these anti-aging superheroes "can help you achieve a radiant and youthful complexion."

SUNSCREEN ALL THE WAY

The effects of sun exposure may not reveal itself for decades. But the damage is being done.

"Sun damage is one of the primary contributors to premature aging, causing wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation," said Day.

There is no excuse - wear SPF 30 every day, even when it's cloudy outside. This should be the first step in your anti-aging routine.

"Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays but also ensures the effectiveness of other anti-aging ingredients in your routine," said Day.

VITAMIN C - BRIGHTENING EFFECT

Vitamin C is one of the buzzwords around anti-aging and should be part of your beauty armory.

It is, said Day, "a powerhouse antioxidant for your skin."

There is no reason not to use vitamin C, there are so many benefits, from brightening dark spots to boosting collagen synthesis.

"Look for stabilized forms of vitamin C in serums or creams and apply them in the morning for a luminous complexion," Day advised.

PERFECT PEPTIDES - BUILDING BLOCKS

If you don't have peptides in your skincare regime yet, grab some now. They are said to slow down the aging process.

Peptides are amino acid chains that play a crucial role in collagen production.

"Incorporating peptides into your skincare routine can help firm and tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles," said Day.

Many products contain peptides. Day suggested applying it before your moisturizer to maximize its benefits.

RETINOIDS - TIME MACHINE

Another buzzword from the anti-aging market, retinoids are considered the holy grail.

Derived from vitamin A, they stimulate collagen production, promote cell turnover, and fade hyperpigmentation.

Retinol products are available over the counter. But tretinoin is stronger and is only available on prescription.

"Incorporate a retinoid into your nighttime routine can work wonders overtime. Start with a lower concentration and gradually increase to prevent irritation," said Day.

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you're not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten the skin and don't forget to apply to your neck.

HYALURONIC ACID FOR THIRSTY SKIN

Hyaluronic acid is responsible for giving skin a lovely plump and hydrated look.

An inevitable consequence of aging is that our skin loses moisture, leading to unwanted fine lines and wrinkles.

But hyaluronic acid is your savior. It is, said Day, a "hydrating powerhouse."

"Incorporate a hyaluronic acid serum into your routine to plump and hydrate your skin, helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines and maintain a youthful glow," she added.
