Fortnite down updates — Servers back up after downtime as new features revealed & Billie Eilish joins popular game

FORTNITE players can now return to the game after today's downtime meant servers went down.

Players can now access a new wave of content following today's downtime, including the addition of global superstar Billie Eilish to the Fortnite Festival game mode.

Joining Billie Eilish, new skins, weapons and LEGO Fortnite content will be added to the game with today's update.

    The following songs will be available after today's update:

  • Fortnite servers back up

    Servers are now back up following today's update.

    The game experienced scheduled downtime earlier this morning whilst the new features were added.

    All of the game's features are now fully operational according to Epic Games' server status page.

  • First look at new Billie Eilish emotes

    Footage of the new Billie Eilish emotes has been shared online.

    Billie is joining the popular battle royale today as part of the Fortnite Festival game mode.

    Players will be able to unlock her skin as well as several items and emotes connected to the singer.

  • Issues drop significantly

    Issues have taken a sharp drop on DownDetector.

    The sudden fall in issues with Fortnite could mean that the game is back up and running.

  • What else to expect in today's update?

    As with most updates, leakers have already shared what they expect to be added today.

  • When will Fortnite Festival season 3 end?

    Fortnite Festival season 3 kicks off today and will be available for almost two months.

    The season comes to an end on June 13, 2024, at 12 AM ET.

    You can get all the content from the new series by purchasing the Season 3 pass.

  • When will OG Fortnite return?

    Fortnite OG launched last year, bringing with it hundreds of millions of first-time and returning players.

    The Chapter 1 flashback season brought back old players and new to discover what sparked Fortnite’s meteoric rise in popularity.

    Epic Games has now formally revealed that the game will return in 2024.

  • Farm friends coming to LEGO Fortnite

    Another big change coming in today's update is the introduction of "farm friends" to LEGO Fortnite.

    Players can now recruit more villagers to their LEGO Fortnite farms.

    Moreover, gamers can now tame animals and bring them to their farm.

    Epic Games said: "It’s never lonely at the farm! The Farm Friends update increases the Village recruitment cap to ten per Village.

    "Three Village slots are available to Villagers, three slots are available to animals, and four slots are available to Villagers OR animals."

  • Downtime has begun!

    Sadly, it's that time once again, downtime has begun.

    This means you won't be able to play Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Festival for some time.

  • Emote changes coming in today's update

    Following the 29.30 update, players will be able to ban certain emotes from their matches.

    Taking to X, Fortnite's developers wrote: "We want emotes to be a source of good vibes, but a few (*cough* Take the L *cough*) can sometimes feel a bit overly confrontational.

    "Tomorrow's update will introduce a new Confrontational Emotes setting to toggle visibility on these Emotes."

    Players will now be able to hide the following emotes:

    • Laugh It Up
    • Take the L
    • Whipcrack
    • Make It Plantain
  • How to check if your Fortnite is down

    If you want to check the status of Fortnite’s servers, you can easily check it out on X.

    To find out if Fortnite is up and running simply head over to the Fortnite Status X account.

  • What time will servers go down?

    Servers are set to go down in a matter of minutes as Epic implements the 29.30 update.

    Downtime begins at 9am BST/4am ET.

    No confirmation has been given as to when servers will return but these updates usually take several hours.

    Global superstar Billie Eilish is coming to Fortnite Festival today.

    Taking to X, the singer shared a teaser image of the Billie Eilish skin players will be able to use.

    Four songs will be available to players, these are:

  • Fortnite update 29.30 launches today

    Epic Games is launching another huge Fortnite update today.

    Servers will go down in just over 20 minutes as new content gets added to the battle royale.

    No confirmation has been given as to when servers will be back up.
