Major prison security breach as teen rapist uses SPOON to break through wall to attack con in cell next door
A TEEN lag cut through a wall to attack another inmate in a Shawshank Redemption-style plan.
The convicted rapist scraped away the concrete between breeze blocks with a sharpened spoon.
It is claimed he broke through into the cell next door and attacked a convicted murderer, leaving him with severe injuries.
Bosses are investigating the incident in the segregation unit at Wetherby Young Offender Institution, West Yorkshire.
A source said: “This is a major security breach. What is really worrying is that he simply got through a wall to launch the attack.
“An inquiry has been launched to find out how the wall could be broken through and why nobody reacted in time.

“Wetherby holds a huge number of vulnerable children. This is very disturbing.”
Governors are interviewing guards over why the “extremely noisy” disturbance of the cell wall failed to alert security.
In 1994 flick The Shawshank Redemption, lag Andy Dufresne, played by Tim Robbins, escaped by chiseling a hole in his cell wall behind a Raquel Welch poster.
The incident on April 14 is the latest scandal at the YOI, which houses up to 336 male and female inmates aged 15 to 18.

The institute has the highest rate of self-harm of any UK prison.
The Youth Custody Service said: “While we cannot comment on a live investigation, anyone found responsible for violence will be punished.”
