Posting on social media, Britni, who revealed that she makes £13.77, but just short of £6 an hour after paying her daughter to babysit, responded to a comment that read: “How do you work with 12 kids? Babysitters and daycare is too much for $17 [£13.77] an hour.”

Britni claimed that her husband also has a job, and makes ‘quite a bit more’ money than she does.

She explained that as a result, the family do not rely on benefits, as she revealed: “We work opposite shifts - he works first shift, I work second shift, but there are a couple of hours between when he gets off work, comes home, and when I go into work.

“So during that time, my oldest daughter, Chrisman, babysits. We pay her to babysit.”

The savvy mum then added: “Even though I'm only making $7 [£5.67] an hour for a little while, because technically, I'm paying out $10 [£8.10] to be able to work.

"I work all day Saturday, and my husband is home with the kids.

“It's four days a week, it's about $200 [£162] a week, babysitting cost.”

Despite having to pay her own daughter for babysitting, Britni claimed that it’s ‘still worth it’ for her to go out to work.

Britni went on to confirm that it’s only her six youngest children, a nine-year-old, seven-year-old, four-year-old triplets and a two-year-old, that need ‘to be watched’.

She concluded: “It's not like there's 12 kids to be watched.”

Why it's not selfish to have a baby at 46

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ourlargefamilylife, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up a whopping 117,400 views.

Social media users were left stunned at Britni’s clip and were keen to express this in the comments.

Whilst many thought Britni’s wage was ‘criminal’, others praised her for paying her daughter to babysit.

One person said: “$17 an hour??? That’s absolutely criminal.

“Teenagers get more working at McDonald’s here in Australia.”
