Dr. Cynthia Bailey shared her anti-aging makeup tips and tricks in a blog post.

What once looked fresh and captivating on a 21-year-old face may not work for a 30, 40, or 50-year-old, she said.

On top of wrinkles being introduced to the skin, as people age, their features also start to change.

The makeup struggle, then, is to "re-accent features and facial colors that have changed or even been lost with the years."

"Where do our eyebrows go? What happened to our rosy pink lips?" she asked.

"For that matter, where did our cheeks go? Is applying a splash of blush good enough to bring them back or do we need a little more help?"

Base makeup, she added, is especially complex as it no longer stays in place the way it may have used to.

"Makeup migrates during the day into the crepeyness of our skin texture," Bailey explained.

"It goes into the fine wrinkles that have etched their way into our skin -- like badges of honor marking our survival over the years.

"How do we keep from finding our makeup pooled in, and accentuating those little crevices by day’s end? Picking the right makeup products needs to take this into account."

In a video, the dermatologist demonstrated the tricks she used on her 60-year-old skin.

A key principle she learned over the years is that thicker brows create a more "youthful" look.

"As we age, we, especially women, lose our brow hairs and they become colorless so you'll notice. young people have beautiful thick brows intensely colored with their natural hair color. They have to actually pluck them," she said.

On top of brows, she added that people lose their lip color, their cheeks flatten, and their faces become more square as they age.

She applied a layer of Dr. Bailey's Baked Mineral Powder all over her face to prevent product from pooling in her wrinkles and on her lids to prep the upper lid skin for eyeshadow.

"Just like painting, you prep your canvas," she explained.

With a brush, she applied brow powder to her bare brows and added a highlight under the brows to make it "pop."

She outlined her lash line with a darker eyeshadow to help it stand out.

"Now I'm going to anchor my lashes because again, you lose those," she explained.

With a fluffy brush, she loaded up her blush, making sure not to apply too much for a natural look.

To finish off her look, she grabbed a lip liner to add color to her pout.

"Lip liners bind more tenaciously to lips than lipsticks, which tend to come off," she explained.

"To recreate the lip color and make it stay while I drink tea, I put this on first and then I put lipstick on top of that.

"As women age, we lose our lips. We lose our filtrum bow."

A dab of plum lipstick later, her simple but natural look was complete.

Viewers thanked her for sharing her helpful advice and tips.

Many appreciated her no-barrier approach to makeup.

"Thank you. Truly, less is more. You look great," said one commenter.
