IF you're not already cross-eyed, you might be by the time you finish this challenge.

Everyone can see the branch - that's the easy part, but there's worse to come in this brainteaser.

Your task is to spot the camouflaged creepy crawly in under ten seconds.

If you succeed you have 20/20 vision and impressive visual acuity.

But this guy is hard to find making your mission even more difficult and infuriating.

So, take a deep breath, set the timer, and start searching for the hidden bug.

We can give you your first clue, however. We can reveal you are searching for a gnophos caterpillar, otherwise known as an inchworm.

It will eventually magically transform into a moth, but right now, it's still a caterpillar.

It has spent the winter feeding on vegetation in preparation for when it takes wings.

Come July, August, or September, it will emerge into its moth form and flutter away.

Nature has done an excellent job camouflaging this creature because it is almost impossible to see.

It protects it from hungry wildlife further up the food chain who like to munch on bugs.

The setting is stark, just a single branch with several twigs sticking out from the body.

It's early in the season and there is very little leaf matter on show to the naked eye.

Everyone sees the hats on the octupi – but if you can find the sneaky fish in 10 seconds you may have high IQ

But this caterpillar is somewhere in the frame hiding in plain sight.

It is infuriatingly hard to spot and this might have you scratching your head in sheer exasperation.

Perhaps you would like a clue before you throw in the towel in frustration.

Benefits of brainteasers and optical illusions

Researchers have developed many tests to show how various brain regions react to brainteasers and optical illusions. There are many benefits.

  • They are not only entertaining, but they also shed light on how our brains interpret visual data.
  • By giving your brain a little workout regularly, you enhance your ability to focus and observe details.
  • Studies have shown people who regularly challenge themselves with optical illusions and puzzles see big improvements in their problem-solving skills, concentration, and attention.
  • Improved concentration and attention span can help prevent cognitive decline in old age.
  • Optical illusions can improve eyesight by allowing you to see small print.

Focus your attention on the branch on the right, pointing downwards.

Can you see it yet? Congratulations if you beat the clock and found the caterpillar.

If you were beaten, we have the answer for you below. This was a hard task.

In this game, everyone can see the melting ice, but you have 20/20 vision and a high IQ if you can spot the prowling leopard in ten seconds.

They are notoriously hard to find in the wild but photographer Dafna Ben-nun captured this image while hiking through the Himalayas in India.

Their ability to blend into a mono-tone background is extraordinary.

If you struggled to spot the wild creatures, here is a clue.

Make sure you look out for two leopards right by one another.
