Services had been down for more than 24 hours.
Services have been restored after ME Bank suffered a major technical issue.

Customers have had their services restored after a major technical issue locked ME Bank users out of their online accounts and blocked use of the institution’s app.

The issue dragged on for more than 24 hours, with the Australian direct bank based in Melbourne first mentioning the issue on their website at 7.15pm AEDT on Wednesday.

It confirmed ME Internet and mobile banking services had been restored about 12am AEDT Friday, and thanked customers for their patience.

“Transactions and account balances will update progressively over the coming hours. Credit card balances may take longer than usual to reflect recent transactions. We’ll continue to keep you updated as all outstanding transactions are processed,” the bank wrote on its website.

The issue was affecting the ability to log into Internet Banking and the ME Mobile App.

ME Bank advised that scheduled payments in and out of ME accounts are now being processed.

“This issue is the result of a technical fault,” borrowers and account holders were told.

“Customers’ funds remain safe and secure.

“We continue to focus all available resources on resolving the technical issue impacting our services.”

Customers could still use their cards for payments, but the bank said limits may apply.

Customers vented their frustration online, with one customer saying that “an outage of over 15 hours is ridiculous”.

“This really isn’t acceptable on my pay day,” said another customer.
