DRIVERS were amazed to discover the real reason for an arrow on their dashboard - with some going more than 30 years without knowing.

A TikToker revealed the new information on the platform - and it has the internet in a spin.

Annie - who goes by theorytestpractice - starts her video by asking: "Have you ever got to the petrol station and you can't remember which side to fill your car up?"

She then adds: "Here's an easy way of knowing. Have a look at the picture on your dashboard of the petrol pump, you'll see an arrow next to it.

"This arrow is telling you which side to go to to fill up.

"If there isn't an arrow the hose of the picture will be either on the left or the right and that will tell you which side your filler cap is on."

Then she says: "The car key is out of power and the door cannot be opened, pop out the mechanical key, aim at the small hole under the door handle, pry open and find the lock.

"Put the key in and turn it, the car door opened."
