A dog owner says she has been left haunted by the death throes of her dog after the beloved pet died following a savage attack by an XL Bully.

Gemma Krzesinska was walking her three pet Lupines- Zeus, Dax and Toki -  along a canal path in Leigh, Greater Manchester, when they encountered the dangerous dog breed.

Ms Krzesinska, 36, dog walk was coming to an end on April 8 when she spotted a man walking an XL Bully-type dog ahead of them. Out of concern for the dog's well documented aggressive behaviour, she decided to put the elderly Toki on her lead.

As they were walking past the XL Bully it viciously grabbed Toki's front leg in its mouth.

Zeus, her other Lupine, attempted to fight the XL Bully but it bit him before attacking Loki again.

Horrifically, Ms Krzesinska then had to watch as the dog grabbed 14-year-old Toki by the neck and shook her repeatedly.

Tragically, Toki's injuries were so severe that she had to be put to sleep at the vets.

Ms Krzesinska, in words reported by the Manchester Evening News, said: 'Her front leg had been bitten through causing muscle damage and nerve damage and she would probably not be able to walk on it properly again.

'Being an older girl, her back legs were already not very strong, the injury to the back of her neck and head was substantial, her flesh had been completely ripped away from the underlying tissue all the way up to and including the scalp.

'The vets were fantastic and did everything they could to make her comfortable and stable and made sure I was okay as well as I was also in shock and dealing with the trauma.'

The IT worker says she has been left heartbroken and traumatised by the tragic loss.

She said:' Toki was more than just a dog to me she was family. We have been through so much together and without her I wouldn't have many of my closest friends or have had so many wonderful experiences.'

The attack has also left her other two dogs more anxious when out on walks. Ms Krzesinska said: 'It happened so quickly I was just trying to deal with what was happening.

'I will never forget her screams as she was shook by that dog.'

Greater Manchester Police confirmed to the Manchester Evening News that the incident has been reported to them but as of writing no arrests have been made.
