Redditor AbandonedOcelot posted a cleaning question to the social media platform.

"What is a laundry 'hack' that everyone should know?" they asked.

Several Redditors chimed in with their own foolproof tips for the perfect load of laundry.

One hack stuck out in particular — and won't break the bank at just $5.

ELBOW GREASE

Fellow Redditor ShoddyHedgehog chimed in with their own laundry advice.

"If you have a grease stain that you have already put through the wash and dried it, you can try Dawn dish soap," one wrote.

Dawn dish soap is available from Target, $5.69.

"I saw it on Instagram and I was a little doubtful," the Redditor added.

"But my son had a sweatshirt that he loved that he got grease on and didn't notice before he put it in the washer and dried it."

The parent said they resorted to other measures before hitting the Dawn soap.

"We tried Shout a couple of times but it wouldn't come out," they said.

"I put the Dawn on the stain and I gently sort of rubbed it in with a wet toothbrush and then I let it sit for 24 hours.

"Threw in the wash hung it out to dry and the stain was gone."

The Redditor added just one regret regarding learning the laundry tip.

"Makes me mad at all those clothes I threw out over the years because they had grease stains on them."

LAUNDRY OVERLOAD

Several Redditors chimed in on the hack, giving their two cents on using Dawn.

"I don’t even buy stain remover anymore, I only use Dawn," one wrote.

The fellow clean freak gave step-by-step instructions on how they use Dawn on tough clothing stains.
