It comes after a cleaning enthusiast posted on social media, asking for advice on how to remove stains left on her patio slabs from rattan furniture.

Posting on Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It, a private Facebook group with 232,500 members, Sara Costella shared snaps of her patio and penned: “We had these new porcelain tiles in November last year and with the bad weather they have stained from the rattan furniture.

“I have tried a rust remover but it hasn't worked..

“Any advice on what we need to get rid of the stains please.”

Fans of Mrs Hinch flooded the comments, sharing their tips, tricks and recommendations on how to remove rust.

Whilst there were a variety of different solutions offered, many stressed The Pink Stuff as an affordable solution. 

One person said: “We had rust stains on our dark grey porcelain tiles. We used The Pink Stuff paste. Came up like new.”

Another added: “I used The Pink Stuff on mine.”

A third commented: “Pink Stuff paste. I got lily pollen on my UPVC window frame and it came up great.” 

Whilst someone else beamed: “The Pink Stuff takes off rust.”

It is best applied using a soft cloth or a sponge and can then be rubbed gently into surfaces before being rinsed off with hot water.

RUST OFF

Not only this, but many other cleaning fans shared their tips and tricks on how to banish stubborn rust stains.

One cleaning enthusiast claimed: “White vinegar removes rust stains…just buy the cheapest from B&M etc.

"Pour onto stain and leave for half an hour or so, then use scrubbing brush and rust stain will lift. Then wash as normal.”

A second chimed in: “In the spring, sprinkle on clothes washing powder and let the rain do its stuff. Works every time.”
