CBS has canceled So Help Me Todd after two seasons and CSI: Vegas after three seasons.
Both shows are slated to air their season finales in May, which will now serve as series finales.
The fate of the two CBS shows had been uncertain until now, as the broadcaster is establishing its 2024-2025 schedule. The Equalizer and NCIS: Hawai’i remain the only two shows pending renewal.
While on air, So Help Me Todd has averaged 7.7 million viewers an episode in the multiplatform Live+35 window, and CSI: Vegas has averaged 7.6 million viewers.
Despite their decent performance, Variety claims “an individual with knowledge of the situation” says that CBS just didn’t have enough space on the forthcoming schedule.
In addition to its numerous previously announced renewals, CBS will debut a Matlock reboot starring Kathy Bates next season, as well as new shows Poppa’s House, Watson, NCIS: Origins, and a multi-cam spinoff of Young Sheldon.
So Help Me Todd debuted in 2022 and stars Marcia Gay Harden as a defense attorney along with Skylar Astin as her son (a talented private investigator whom her firm employs). Madeline Wise, Tristen J. Winger, Inga Schlingmann, and Rosa Arredondo also star.
It was created by Scott Prendergast, who also serves as executive producer along with Elizabeth Klaviter, Dr. Phil McGraw, and Jay McGraw.
CSI: Vegas served as a revival of the original crime drama series of the same name. It starred Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon, Ariana Guerra, Lex Medlin, and Jay Lee. Several of the stars from the original series reprised their roles in Seasons 1 & 2, including William Petersen, Jorja Fox, Marg Helgenberger, Wallace Langham, Paul Guilfoyle, and Eric Szmanda.
It was developed by Jason Tracey who also executive produced alongside Petersen, Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Jonathan Littman of Jerry Bruckheimer Television, original series creator Anthony Zuiker, original series executive producers Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, and Cynthia Chvatal, as well as Steven H. Kram, Steven H. Blume, and Craig O’Neill.
