Remember Eric Ciaramella, the intelligence community lackey generally credited with sparking off the first Trump impeachment frenzy?
He’s widely ID’d as the anonymous accuser who in 2019 claimed the then-prez had made Ukraine military aid conditional on an investigation of Biden family corruption in the country.
Yet when Joe Biden did exactly that — threatened to axe Ukraine aid over a political demand — Ciaramella didn’t do a thing, as Paul Sperry reports at RealClearInvestigations.
Oh, sorry: He did say “Yikes” in an email about Joe’s abrupt 2015 crusade to choke off the aid spigot unless the former Soviet-bloc nation fired top prosecutor Victor Shokin.
Shokin just happened to be investigating energy firm Burisma, where First Son Hunter had a hugely lucrative gig on the board — and had been identified as a key target by Hunter’s shady business associates.
That definitely merits a yikes. Possibly an oof.
Maybe even a WTF.
Hmmmm: What about a tipoff to a reporter or to Congress?
That would make sense, if Ciaramella were a selfless, fearless public servant.
Surely this was the very definition of a public-interest story on which the whistle needed blowing loud and clear.
Except that when Eric felt moved to do his bit to save America from the greatest threat it’s ever known, that threat was Democrats losing elections.
Given the vast network of Biden Mafia members who benefited from Hunter’s foreign dealings and the ever-increasing tide of evidence damning him, Uncle Jim and “big guy” Joe himself, the pretense that it was innocent is becoming impossible to sustain.
Yet as far as the available records show, Ciaramella — with the face of a Reddit moderator and the spine of a jellyfish — did nothing much after his impotent “yikes.”
Or at least nothing of any value to the American people, i.e. the group whose interests he was supposed to be serving.
He did work with the Biden flunkeys trying to do damage control over amply deserved bad press from Hunter’s crooked Burisma job.
And Barack Obama’s former Ukraine Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt sounded dubious in closed-door 2020 testimony before Congress that Ciaramella actually was surprised by the news about Shokin.
That allegation makes sense, given that Ciaramella seems to have served as Biden’s main consigliere on Ukrainian affairs.
It increases the stink around this ugly backroom deal.
And it’s Exhibit No.1,000,000 that Defenders of Demcracy™ somehow always turn out to be venal, partisan hacks.
