VIEWERS of The One Show were left giggling after a blunder during a cheeky segment in Steve Backshall's interview on the programme.

Steve revealed that scientists have been working on a special fertility treatment for the immobile animals.

While he was discussing their method of reproduction, a subtitling mistake was made - but it actually rendered the description less naughty than before.

The presenter from Our Changing Planet explained the project he is involved with, saying: "What we were learning is there are ways of bringing both the coral back, and then bringing back everything else that relies on it - using coral condoms.

"The corals reproduce in these mass spawning events where they fill the water with sperm and eggs.

"You're effectively swimming in this kind of spermy soup.

"But if you can collect that, and then take it into a pool and take care of it so there aren't any predators feeding on it, it's not being subjected to environmental pressures - then you can massively increase its success rate and enable it to bring back a new thriving reef."

However, sperm was misspelt as spurn, leaving viewers in stitches.

One person who was taken aback by the subject matter joked: "Incredibly there’s only one typo on this subtitle!"

Another added: "Mika's ears pricked up suddenly up at the sound of spermy soup."

Meanwhile, other audience members at home were more taken aback by BGT judge Bruno Tonioli's glowing new look.
