JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — A single-vehicle crash in Jefferson County left a Madison man dead Thursday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Brandon Watson, 35, was critically injured when the 2019 Chevrolet 2500 Express van he was driving left the roadway, hit an embankment, overturned and struck a tree.

Watson was not wearing his seat belt and was partially ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened around 7:51 a.m. on Interstate 65 near the 279-mile marker, roughly a mile south of Warrior. No additional information is available as ALEA continues to investigate.
