Trump hush money trial adjourns till Thursday

Seven jurors were seated Tuesday afternoon in Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York, beginning the process of assembling a group that will weigh criminal charges against the former president. Proceedings ended late Tuesday afternoon, and the trial is scheduled to resume Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

Jury selection began Monday. That day, nearly 100 potential jurors were brought into the courtroom. Half were promptly excused after saying they could not be impartial. The questioning process continued throughout Tuesday, with scrutiny of potential jurors’ social media postings, leading some to be excused on that basis. Here’s how jury selection works in this case.
The trial is not scheduled to take place Wednesday, which is why jury selection will not continue until Thursday.
Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records in his reimbursement of lawyer Michael Cohen for a hush money payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, who alleged that she had a sexual encounter with Trump years before he sought the presidency.
