New and upcoming Kia electric vehicle models are set to offer more affordable prices in the US, and the company is attributing it to its latest developments, including a "secret sauce."

With this, the South Korean car company believes it has an advantage in delivering these cheaper and more cost-effective EVs to the country, following up on its various releases.

The low-cost EVs from Kia will bring a new era for the company, centering on accessible clean energy cars that would help the average American adhere to reducing carbon emissions with this transportation option.

Kia America COO Steve Center, in an interview with Automotive News, claimed that the company is "ahead of most (brands)" as it is ushering in a new era of offering more affordable electric vehicles in the US.

The company is now on the verge of rushing the release of these EVs in the American market, also regarding that it is more "evolved" in technology.

On Kia's EV Day last year, it announced EV concepts with lower price tags than the competition, including the EV2, EV3, EV4, and EV5.

Kia estimated that these EVs would be priced between $30,000 and $80,000, with the EV5 already launching in China for only $20,000 (149,800 yuan).

'Secret Sauce' Made Kia EVs Cheaper

"You can't just jump in and catch up. You have to have your own R&D, your own secret sauce," added Center.

The COO believes that Kia has an edge over competitors regarding its development over the past years, which centers on the company's commitment to making these more affordable cars cheaper than the rest.

Cheaper EVs from ManufacturersElectric vehicles have since been marketed as clean energy luxury cars when they rose to fame, and while there were cheap options before, there are more expensive EVs made for the market by their manufacturers.

For instance, Tesla, as the previously affordable luxury experience on its EVs, saw its price fluctuating from low to high, and the company dedicated development to bringing a more affordable one in the future.

Previously, only the Chevrolet Bolt EV and the Tesla Model Y were affordable, but other brands had already entered the market to deliver new cars with lower price tags than competitors.

Most of the cheap EVs now center on global Chinese brands, including Xiaomi and BYD, both known for competing with Tesla with their more affordable cars.

Other companies are also following suit regarding making EVs cheaper, with Volkswagen, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, and others looking to introduce low-cost electric cars in the future.

Thanks to its secret sauce, Kia believes it has an advantage in delivering these more affordable EVs, particularly with its new lineup.
