In her viral video, Lanna Kristia (@lanniekristia) demonstrated her "favorite pregnancy hack" for her followers.

The TikToker revealed that she uses the $65 Siliconefusion Stretch Mark Kit from Dermaclara.

To prevent stretch marks, Lanna peeled the silicone patches and applied them to her bump.

The patches were shaped in triangles, which she placed inverted on either side of her stomach.

She joked that her "secret was out" but insisted that the product works.

According to the product description, the silicone patches can help to prevent stretch marks from forming as well as treat old ones.

By adding extra moisture to the skin, the patches are said to create a "microclimate that promotes occlusion."

"Occlusion pulls moisture through all layers of the skin, especially targeting the layer of your skin that is more prone to signs of aging or stretch marks," the manufacturers explained.

Lanna revealed that she applies the patches alongside her favorite lotion.

She told her followers that she uses the $16 Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion.

The product is designed to "improve skin elasticity, texture, and tone and is widely recommended for stretch marks during and after pregnancy."

While occlusion can help to hydrate the skin, the experts at Regimen Lab recommend practicing the technique with caution.

"On one end, it can seal in hydration to prevent dryness and flakiness," they said.

"On the other, it can act as a penetration enhancer and induce maceration."

DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD

The skincare professionals explained that too much occupation can act as a "double-edged sword."

"Occlusion may prevent the penetration of other actives," they explained.

"Some authors argue that there are actives that are affected by the skin's water gradient.

"Occlusion decreases this gradient, which explains why certain actives penetrate less. It's a very unpredictable phenomenon."

TikTok users shared their own stretch mark hacks in the comments section.

"I use oil, and I have no stretch marks at all. I'm halfway through my pregnancy though, I hope I don't get them later," wrote one viewer.

"I have five kids, I never got stretch marks. I always put lotion on," said another follower.

"Honestly, I didn’t do anything and not one stretch mark. I've got friends putting everything on and [they still] got torn up," said another TikTok user.
