HAVING a lot of cats doesn't mean your home has to smell bad.
A pet owner revealed the litter box routine she swears by for preventing odors.
In a Reddit post, the cat parent revealed that they share their home with six felines "plus occasional fosters."
The unnamed poster broke down some of the cleaning techniques they use to ensure their space always smells fresh.
"I vacuum every day, just the walkable areas, no furniture moving," the Reddit user said.
They also revealed the DIY hack she uses to wipe down their floors without fully mopping.
"I also have a spray bottle with a small amount of dishwashing soap, a few times a week I spray it around the floor and chase it with a mop," they explained.
During the week, the poster uses a Swiffer to dust and they steam clean their walkable areas.
"Once a month, I get the corded vacuum and move furniture for vacuuming and steam cleaning," they said.
The pet parent tackles any accidents from the cats immediately with kitchen paper, enzyme cleaner, dishwashing soap, and water.

However, every cat owner knows a tidy house means nothing if you're not keeping on top of your litter box cleaning.
The Reddit user revealed that their litter boxes "get scooped twice a day."
They added that they would clean the eight boxes even more frequently if there was a "stinky poo."
"Scoopings go in a closed baggy that goes in a larger bin, with a coal baggy and baking soda so it doesn't smell," the original poster explained.
"The litter gets dumped once a month, two months max, and the box goes in the shower for a round of disinfectant, then dishwashing soap, then thorough rinse."
The cat parent explained that it is impossible to eliminate odors entirely but that their process helps to keep their home smelling as fresh as possible.
"Some smell is inevitable, but it isn't bad except when there's fresh poo," they said.
