Clashes between protesters, police break out near Georgian parliament building

The protesters, mostly members of the "New" Party, decided to camp at the service entrance to prevent lawmakers and parliament workers from leaving the building

TBILISI, April 16. /TASS/. Clashes between protesters and police officers have broken out at the service entrance to the Georgian parliament building, a TASS correspondent reports.

Georgian lawmakers are currently considering the first reading of a foreign agent bill.

The protesters, mostly members of the "New" Party, decided to camp at the service entrance to prevent lawmakers and parliament workers from leaving the building. Police officers asked them to step away from the gate but they refused, sparking clashes. No detainees have been reported so far.
