Oil, gas to remain key area of Sino-Russian cooperation for decades — Energy Ministry

Russia is supplying at present about 40 mln metric tons of oil to China via pipelines, including 30 mln metric tons through the Skovorodino - Mohe oil pipeline, and 10 mln metric more by transit via Kazakhstan

MOSCOW, April 16. /TASS/. Supplies of oil and gas will remain the main direction of cooperation between Russia and China during the next three-four decades, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Sergey Mochalnikov said at the National Oil and Gas Forum.

"Oil and gas [supplies from Russia to China], I believe, they will have the paramount importance for the next 3-4 decades," Mochalnikov said.

Russia is supplying at present about 40 mln metric tons of oil to China via pipelines, including 30 mln metric tons through the Skovorodino - Mohe oil pipeline, and 10 mln metric more by transit via Kazakhstan.

"Forty million metric tons over pipelines alone. This is a good, stable, and, most importantly, predictable and fairly cheap on account of transportation costs channel of oil receipt," he noted.

Russia and China also have high prospects in respect of natural gas. Supplies over the Power of Siberia will reach the design capacity of 38 bln cubic meters in 2025. The Far Eastern route contract was signed in 2023, providing 10 bln cubic meters more of supplies annually, Mochalnikov informed.
