CSTO calls for global collaboration on information security

CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov pointing out that the international information security system should be "resistant to the growing threat to the security of the global information environment"

SOCHI, April 16. /TASS/. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) should work with the global community to create an international security system to keep information safe, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said in an address read out at the Infoforum-Sochi by organization's representative Alexander Kuznetsov.

"Today we realize the significance and scale of new challenges and threats in the rapidly developing sphere of information and communication technologies, anticipating the gravity of possible consequences of their illegal use," the CSTO secretary general's message states.

"Recognizing the objective need to consolidate the efforts of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states in this area, we believe that the time has come for the formation of a new vision for the international information security system," Tasmagambetov stressed, pointing out that this system should be "resistant to the growing threat to the security of the global information environment."

"I am deeply convinced that it should be a matter of consolidation not only of Russia and the CSTO member states, but also of the entire world community," the CSTO secretary general added.

Infoforum is one of the biggest annual IT events in Russia. This year it is being held in Sochi from April 15 to 18 and is already in its eleventh year. The central subject of the forum is drafting a program to develop digital security technologies through 2030.
