Dara Ó Briain is worlds away from Mock The Week as he returns to screens with new documentary series
The upcoming series will uncover fascinating archaeological, historical, and scientific findings.
FORMER Mock The Week presenter Dara Ó Briain will embark on a new, mysterious ancient adventure in his new Channel 5 docu-series.
The 52-year-old comedian and well-loved presenter will explore one of the world's oldest and most compelling sites with the help of experts.

The new series will see Dara joined by archaeologist Raksha Dave and Egyptologist Dr Chris Naunton as they set off on a new journey in Channel 5’s The Mysteries of the Pyramids.
The two-parter, produced by Wildflame Productions, will see the trio investigate the most frequently asked questions about the mysterious Egyptian pyramids and delve into the more far-fetched theories surrounding them.
Dara and the experts will deep dive into the questions such as: Was one a giant power station? Were they built for, or even by, aliens? And the biggest mystery of all – why did the ancient Egyptians start building them and then stop?
The new upcoming and definitive series will uncover the fascinating archaeological, historical, and scientific findings which tell the story of the pyramids, while revealing the secrets of the mega-structures.

The programme will also debunk the many myths about the pyramids while sharing eye-opening facts that will keep viewers surprised and captivated.

Speaking ahead of the series, Dara said: “What a joy to explore these great monuments to human ingenuity and effort, to sort out the amazing facts from the many, frankly, ridiculous fictions that surround them.

“But mainly to live out all my Indiana Jones fantasies, scrambling in sandy tunnels in search of treasure, just without all the Nazis or the snakes.”

Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor, Denise Seneviratne, added: “To this day, the pyramids hold so much mystery – I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with them.

Back in 2022, the BBC announced that Mock The Week was being taken off air after 17 years without a definite reason.
Fans of the show were devastated, and at the time the, Beeb commented: “The next series of Mock the Week will be the last, we are really proud of the show, but after 21 series, we have taken the difficult decision in order to create room for new shows.
"We would like to thank Angst Productions, host Dara O'Briain, panellist Hugh Dennis and all the guest comedians involved in the show across the 21 series."
Since the show was taken off air, Dara has focused on his other projects.
