THIS is the chilling moment a 15-year-old girl lies to cops after she lured a teen to be murdered.

Lyrico Steede, 17, was knifed nearly 20 times following a "date" in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire.

But in a police interview, the girl who had enticed Lyrico on February 13, 2018, attempted to paint herself as a victim.

She told cops: "At first I messaged him on Instagram, that's how we got in contact with each other.

"Then we switched it over to Snapchat. He messaged me saying 'What you doing, shall we meet up?'."

After about an hour, she says several people came into the park where the pair were and "ran" towards them.

She claimed she and Lyrico fled four gang members after they stole her iPad and pursued him.

After escaping, she said she went looking for Lyrico but went home because she was "worried and scared".

But her version of events turned out to be a total lie when cops obtained CCTV showing her on a bus with the iPad she claimed was stolen.

The video also shows her ducking down and hiding between the seats when a police car drives past.

Lyrico had tripped and fallen before being stabbed 18 times - including six times on the face - in a frenzied attack.

In his dying breath, he managed to tell police he had been stabbed by four youths.

INVESTIGATION

But officers struggled to find a motive or even the location where he had been attacked - sparking a gigantic investigation.

The story of Lyrico's murder featured in new Channel 4 series Murder Case: Digital Detectives on Monday night.

It reveals how cops were able to piece together clues to solve the slaying using CCTV and phone records.

Using the location, officers were able to find "gold dust" CCTV that showed the teen being chased through the park but also proved Lyrico hadn't started a fight that night.

But it raised questions, including how the killers knew he would be in the park at that time.

This lead police to establish the attack wasn't random and Lyrico was meant to die that night.

'DIGITAL FOOTPRINT'

A taxi later confirmed it had driven a group to Sneinton, around five miles away from where the teen died.

The taxi had been cleaned, destroying all the DNA, but the driver had kept a mobile phone that one of the boys left in his car.

Forensic experts found fingerprints on the old Nokia but they didn't match anyone on the police database.

A breakthrough came when police were able to find a "digital footprint" for Kasharn Campbell, whose name was given to them following a media appeal.

He messaged me saying 'What you doing, shall we meet up?'

Girl, 15, who lured Lyrico to his death

His phone had tried to "shake hands" with cell towers and public wi-fi spots, with the data revealing he had travelled in the same direction as the taxi driver.

The girl, who can't be named, was found to have been in contact with Campbell - suggesting Lyrico had been lured to his death by her.

DCI Williams said: "Girl 1 is very significant...it couldn't happen without her - that's the honeytrap bit."

Police were then given two more names - Remell Miller-Campbell and Christian Jameson.

GOOGLE SEARCHES FOR MURDER

Officers finally cracked the case when they tracked CCTV along the taxi's route and found footage of the two suspects in a shop that showed Jameson on the phone at 6.42pm.

This call matched a call made by a mobile in the taxi as it travelled from Sneinton to Bulwell - placing him in the park on the night of the murder.

Jameson was later found with a phone hidden up his backside while in custody which showed not only Google searches about Lyrico's murder, but also a number for the Nokia that was found in the taxi for another teen - the fourth suspect.

He was charged with murder alongside the teen girl, Jameson, Miller-Campbell and Campbell.

Kasharn Campbell and Christian Jameson were jailed for life for 20 years and 16 years respectively for murder.

The fourth attacker - a 17-year-old boy - and Remmell Miller-Campbell, 18, were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter and jailed for a total of 16 years.

Although they are behind bars, for Lyrico's mum the horror continues as she is repeatedly tormented by her son's final moments.

She tells the show: "He always reassured me when he was out he was safe."
