A quarter enjoy a pre-sleep romp, with a tenth getting nookie slightly earlier at 7pm to 9pm.

Nearly as many stay up until 1am for their kicks.

Six per cent are early risers who get down to it from 5am and 9am, while the same proportion like a lunchtime quickie, from noon to 2pm.

Three per cent say they are it on the 1am to 5am night shift.

Will Cunningham, 34, of Norwich, said he and partner Sophie get jiggy when they get in from work at 7pm, saying: “We go straight to the bedroom and postpone dinner.”

The Durex research found a fifth either did not know what time they had sex, or romped multiple times in a day.

The condom brand said: “Our data shows that as a nation, we love evening sex between 7pm and 11pm, however many of us engage in the activity before breakfast time.

“The Durex sex schedule of the nation shows that no time is out of bounds when it comes to sexual activity.”
