NO MORE SHORE

Inside the abandoned and run down Geordie Shore house as it’s set to be demolished after show is axed

Fans have had their say on what the site should become

IT was once Newcastle's premier party pad with all manner of debauched antics going on inside its walls.

However, these days the Geordie Shore house is a mere shell of its former glory and will soon be torn down as part of a major redevelopment.

For the time being, the site is proving popular with urban explorers, who have shared footage from inside the derelict industrial unit online.

The run down empty lot at the Oceana Business Park in Wallsend has a spooky atmosphere in an upload by Geordie Urbex on YouTube.

Save for a few fixtures and fittings, the house has been stripped of anything that made it homely.

Water no longer runs from its taps and showers, though there is the occasional nod to its residential past.

The names of show stars such as Marnie Simpson, Nathan Henry and Chloe Ferry can be seen written on masking tape, while the bedroom layout is written on paper pinned to the walls.

For more than a decade the property was used for the MTV show. It relocated there from a house in Carlton Terrace in Jesmond after series one due to noise complaints.

North Tyneside Council recently approved plans to demolish the building, known as Laurel House, as well as others on the business park.

A source told us: "For the last year the house has been left well and truly abandoned. It has been completely gutted with the kitchen fully removed, all the fixtures and fittings taken away and any nod to Geordie Shore being completely ditched."

On his YouTube page, Geordie Urbex said it was difficult to gain access to the building.

He wrote: "This place wasn't easy to get into, lots of dodgy climbs and through thick bushes full of thorns, all while trying to avoid the security box.

"Once I made it in it was a bit disappointing, most of the place had been stripped, however there were a few good bits left, like the Tyne Bridge art work at the front door of the house, a few bits of the indoor plans with the casts names on.

"The excitement of sneaking around the security made up for what little was left in the house."

Fans of the show were equally as disappointed.

One commented: "This made me so upset! they should’ve created an Air BnB."

Another said: "They Should Have Turned It Into a Airbnb a lot of people would have wanted to stay there."

Last year we revealed how the popular reality show was coming to an end.

Its latest series was filmed in Cyprus.

A source told us: “MTV chiefs have decided the time has come to call it a day on Geordie Shore.

"Think of it as resting the format rather than cancelling it out right.

“It's been one of the most successful runs of all time but the truth is it's not been the same for quite a few years. Bosses think it's the right time."

Geordie Shore was a smash hit when it first aired in 2011.

However, in later years ratings tumbled to barely over 100,000.

At its peak it was regularly pulling in more than one million viewers per episode.

The first-of-its-kind show documented a group of 20-somethings as they stumbled from bar to bar in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

The original cast included Charlotte, Gaz, Vicky, Jay Gardner, Holly Hagan, James Tindale, Greg Lake and Sophie Kasaei.

When it first aired the show caused a huge backlash, with Geordie Shore accused of glorifying binge-drinking.

Despite this, the series was a huge success and sparked spin-offs including All Star Shore and the reunion shows

Vicky, 36, Charlotte, 33, and Gaz, 35, have all become millionaires thanks to countless lucrative brand deals and TV appearances off the back of their fame from the show.
