As a beauty fanatic, my social feeds have been littered with LED masks.
From fellow skincare friends posting pics of their faces lit up in red behind an at-home mask, to influencers documenting their salon experience, I’ve been well aware of the latest cult device.
When I got the chance to review The Light Salon’s Boost LED Mask I jumped at it, determined to give it a go and see if the popular product lived up to its rave reviews.

The Light Salon Boost LED Mask review: quick summary
With my twenty-sixth birthday fast approaching, I’ve started to take skincare more seriously, but with so many products and devices out there, it can be hard to know where to begin.
I don’t tend to use any gadgets, and when they are pricey, I’m definitely cautious. On Instagram and TikTok, you'll see so many videos of people using LED masks, so this was a product that I've always wanted to try and, spoiler alert, I’m so glad I did.
It’s so simple to use and garners great results.
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t put it on once and take it off to find I’d turned 15 again, but after just one use, my skin did look brighter.
With an auto-shut-off at 10 minutes, a button controller and adjustable straps, it’s so easy to pop on and let it work its magic. I normally do a 10-minute meditation while I have it on (which admittedly, I have fallen asleep to), or sometimes I potter around finishing off chores while I wear it.
I’ve tested the mask for six months now and honestly, I couldn’t recommend it enough.

First impressions
When the box arrived at my house back in the autumn, I was very excited to open it and give it a go.
I didn’t really know what to expect, but I have a friend who swears by his, so once I’d confirmed with him that it was simpler to use than I thought, I began using it and became hooked.
The Light Salon was founded by Laura Ferguson and Hannah Measures who pioneered the LED skincare movement with the UK’s first LED facial bar.
The Boost LED mask has made the treatment more accessible for those who can’t fit a salon experience into their schedule as it delivers similar results, but at home.

The white silicone mask features adjustable straps, an attached button controller and a cotton case making it easy to wear, use and store.
It really made the treatment feel less intimidating due to the simplicity of its design and how easy it was to operate.

Hailed by celebs, industry experts and customers as the best-in-class, the Boost LED mask has won multiple awards including Who What Wear’s ‘Best Skin Tech Tool & Beast Body Tool 2023’, and Selfridges' ‘Best Beauty Gadget 2020’.
Delivering optimised intensities of Red 633nm and Near-Infrared 830nm wavelengths, the combination is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve hydration and improve firmness.
Sometimes technical claims this bold can leave me slightly apprehensive of its effects, however, I can vouch for the fact that the mask does deliver on its accolades.
One unexpected joy was that it gave me 10 minutes every few days to switch off and take a break.
It can be easy for skincare routines to feel like a long list of chores to do in the day. And while the mask has an attached button controller so you can wear it on the go, I took the opportunity to sit down, put on some guided meditation and let it do its thing.

As someone prone to redness, dryness and textured skin, the Boost LED mask has helped to brighten and hydrate my complexion. Although it’s not transformed my skin, it’s noticeably improved it - to the extent that other people have noticed, which is unique when it comes to beauty products.
With 96% of users agreeing that their fine lines appear less visible in just four weeks, this is a product that - despite being pricey - is worth the cash if skincare is something you take seriously.
In-store service and membership program
The Light Salon launched its membership program earlier this year and it's a monthly subscription that allows you to enjoy in-store salon treatments for 50% off.
For £120 per month, the membership is worth £245, is available at Selfridges or Harvey Nichols and entitles you to two Brightening Collagen Boost facials, one Signature Lifting Microcurrent or Skin Reset facial, 15% off all additional treatments, early access to innovations and user trials, and ongoing personalised skincare advice from expert therapists.
You also get birthday treats including a complimentary facial for you and a friend and a full-size Boost skincare product of your choice.
I was lucky enough to try out one of the in-store treatments at the Selfridges salon and had the best experience.
I was booked in for a collagen boost and had a chat with the consultant beforehand to discuss my skin type, any concerns and what I was looking to achieve.
She identified that my skin was particularly dry and I had broken out a lot recently, so after a discussion, she advised that I reduce my exfoliating and cleansing.
While it was a surprise to me, she explained that because I was cleansing twice a day and exfoliating every couple of days a week, my skin didn't have enough time to recover.
She suggested that instead of cleansing in the morning, on the days when I wasn’t applying any makeup, I simply washed my face with a flannel and water, and although I was sceptical, it honestly made a huge difference.
After my red-light therapy session, I had a facial massage and my skin looked so plump and hydrated afterwards. The salon experience left me feeling relaxed, pampered and restored, and my skin was glowing.
Although the membership is pricey, if you’re London-based and are serious about taking care of your skin, it’s worth considering as you get so many different treatments and perks for half price.

I am a huge advocate of The Light Salon Boost LED Mask and for those that can afford it, I absolutely think it’s worth the money.
It really delivers results and provides an at-home treatment that rivals most salon experiences.
The ease of use and visible results make it a winner for those looking to incorporate something new into their skincare routine.
As someone who loves skincare and is keen to keep the ageing process at bay, this device is perfect in every way.
