Zaporozhye NPP is ready for forthcoming rotation of IAEA inspectors

MELITOPOL, April 15. /TASS/. The staff of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (Zaporozhye NPP) is ready for the next rotation of the 17th group of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is expected in the near future, ZNPP spokeswoman Yevgeniya Yashina has told TASS.

"We are always ready for rotation and interaction with the IAEA. It is expected in the near future," Yashina said.

She added that at ZNPP "the situation is still the same, there have been no strikes, but Ukrainian drones keep flying."

The 17th rotation of IAEA observers took place on March 12. The 17th observer team includes four inspectors from Canada, Slovakia, South Korea, and Spain. Their task is to keep an eye on and assess safety at the power plant. IAEA experts have been present at ZNPP since September 1, 2022 since the first visit of the agency's Director-General Rafael Grossi.

On April 5-9, the Ukrainian military carried out several strikes on the ZNPP premises. In the area of ZNPP's cargo port and nitrogen-oxygen station No. 2 the attacks damaged a truck that had delivered food to a canteen. Three people were injured. One of the drones hit the roof of Unit 6. A suicide drone was shot down over the NPP. Its debris fell on the roof of Unit 6. ZNPP spokeswoman Yevgeniya Yashina said on April 14 that the situation in the area of ZNPP and the city of Energodar remained tense, with Ukrainian drones often appearing in the sky.
