Two law enforcement officers were shot dead while responding to a report of a stolen car in Salina, Onondaga County, New York, and the shooter also died, ABC reports.

According to media reports, the officers were responding to a stolen car report when they were shot. Local media also reported that the shooter is dead. A deputy sheriff and a police officer died after shots were fired during an investigation of a stolen vehicle in Salina, New York, officials confirmed early Monday morning.

A Syracuse police officer and an Onondaga County deputy sheriff were initially taken to a local hospital in critical condition after the shooting, officials previously said. Both were pronounced dead at the university hospital, a police representative said. Additionally, a person believed to be the main suspect in the case was killed.
