A man being questioned at a police station in Paris wounded two police officers, resulting in serious injuries, Novinky.cz reports.

According to reports from French media, the man, who was undergoing questioning at a Parisian police station on Thursday evening, injured two police officers after seizing a weapon from one of them and opening fire. Both the injured officers and the assailant were hospitalized following the incident.

The man was being interrogated by police at the precinct in the 13th arrondissement of Paris on suspicion of domestic violence. Shortly after eleven in the evening, he took hold of a pistol from one of the officers and inflicted serious injuries on at least two police officers, who are currently receiving intensive care. One of the wounded officers is said to be in critical condition, as per information from the AFP news agency.

Authorities stated that the man assaulted a woman using a knife. Paris police chief Laurent Nuñez explained to reporters that the police intervened and brought the man to the precinct for questioning, where he then seized the weapon. Subsequently, one of the officers acted swiftly and shot the assailant with his pistol, resulting in the man being hospitalized and no longer in life-threatening condition.

The man now faces charges of attempted murder involving a woman and two police officers, along with armed assault on public officials.
