A serious fire continues to rage at a waste disposal site in Polish Silesia, where chemicals may also be present, RMF24 reports.

The fire started at the site in the town of Semyanovitse-Shlensky at around 9 a.m. A thick column of black smoke is visible from a considerable distance. The area of the fire covers several hundred square meters, and at the time of the latest updates, it has not yet been brought under control. Several dozen brigades are working at the scene.

The head of the local fire and rescue service stated that chemicals may also be present at the site, so air quality monitoring will be conducted. Local residents have been asked to close their windows.
