French police put an end to the blockade of a building on the campus of the University of Lille, which was initiated on Tuesday evening by pro-Palestinian activists, Le Monde reports. According to law enforcement, they intervened at the request of the university and “in a very calm atmosphere” compelled the demonstrators to end the blockade of the hall on the campus premises.

One of the activists stated that at the time of police intervention, there were about 20 demonstrators in the hall, while law enforcement personnel outnumbered them by four times.

The activists who occupied the building issued a statement calling, among other things, to end partnerships with Tel Aviv University and all Israeli universities, as well as to “stop the mass killings and genocide, which are supported by big business and our governments.”

Earlier, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for an end to “antisemitic abuses” in universities in the United Kingdom, where protests against the war in Gaza, where Israel is conducting an operation against Hamas terrorists, are ongoing.

Pro-Palestinian protesters also built barricades at the University of Amsterdam, using desks and fencing to block the entrance from the canal side in the city center, and promised to stay in place until the educational institution severed all ties with Israel.
