Several thousand people again took to the streets for a pro-Palestinian demonstration in the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, following protests near a local university, NL Times reports.

According to a representative of the Amsterdam police, three people were arrested during Thursday evening’s demonstration for offenses involving criminal punishment, as well as incitement to hatred. After the protest action, law enforcement announced that the police would be “visibly present” in the city to be able to promptly respond to any disturbances.

At the same time, riot police briefly clashed with a crowd at Spui Square in Amsterdam when a group of demonstrators obstructed the passage of a police car. Law enforcement officers struck demonstrators several times, as can be seen in videos from AT5 channel. There were also other brief skirmishes between them and the protesters.

Some of the demonstrators sat on the roadway of Spui Square, while others climbed the stairs of the university building, but they were pushed out from there.

The day before, pro-Palestinian protesters built barricades at the University of Amsterdam, using desks and fencing to block the entrance from the canal side in the city center, and promised to stay in place until the educational institution severed all ties with Israel.
