In the criminal trial of former President Donald Trump, his lawyer sought to discredit Stormy Daniels’ account of a 2006 sexual encounter with Trump. Daniels remained steadfast in her testimony despite rigorous questioning by defense attorney Susan Necheles, Reuters reported.

Trump, facing 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to Daniels, has denied the encounter ever took place. Prosecutors argue that Trump’s efforts to conceal the payment corrupted the 2016 election.

The judge denied requests for a mistrial and loosening of a gag order on Trump. Daniels’ testimony was scrutinized for inconsistencies, but she maintained the integrity of her account.
