In southern Brazil, a horse named Caramelo captured national attention after being stranded on a rooftop during massive floods that claimed over 100 lives, ABC News reported.

Rescuers, including firefighters and veterinarians, successfully removed Caramelo after a 24-hour operation involving sedation and careful maneuvering.

The horse, estimated to be around 7 years old and weighing 770 pounds, was found in a debilitated state and is now recovering at a veterinary hospital. Social media played a significant role in updating the public and offering support, with influencers and even President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s wife sharing the good news.

The flooding in Rio Grande do Sul has not only caused human casualties but also displaced thousands and put numerous animals at risk. Rescue efforts, including the saving of about 10,000 animals, have been underway, highlighting the importance of community support and volunteer efforts.
