In a move signaling a foray into the political arena, Barron Trump, the 18-year-old son of former President Donald Trump, has been designated as one of Florida’s at-large delegates for the Republican National Convention.

Alongside Barron, other Trump family members, including Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Tiffany Boulos, along with her husband Michael Boulos, were selected as delegates by the Republican Party of Florida.

A Trump campaign official affirmed Barron’s keen interest in the nation’s political landscape, despite his status as a high school student. Barron’s involvement comes amidst his father’s ongoing legal proceedings, with Donald Trump recently expressing regret over potentially missing Barron’s high school graduation due to his trial in Manhattan.

The Republican National Convention, scheduled for July in Milwaukee, will witness the presence of Barron and his fellow delegates, including prominent figures from Florida’s political landscape. Notably, the delegation encompasses leaders from diverse spheres, including supporters of Governor Ron DeSantis and stalwarts of the GOP ecosystem in Florida.

While several Trump family members embrace political roles, Ivanka Trump remains aloof from the political fray after her tenure as a senior adviser in her father’s administration. The Trump family’s deepening ties to Florida, where Ivanka now resides, underscore their continued influence within the state’s political landscape.

Republican Party of Florida Chair Evan Power lauded the diverse composition of the delegation, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and Trump family members. The inclusion of figures like Kimberly Guilfoyle, engaged to Donald Trump Jr., underscores the fusion of familial ties and political influence within the delegation.

Amidst favorable polling numbers for Donald Trump in Florida, where he maintains a double-digit lead over President Joe Biden, the designation of Barron and other Trump family members as delegates underscores the enduring sway of the Trump brand within the state’s Republican circles. With Donald Trump’s previous victories in Florida in 2016 and 2020, the family’s continued involvement heralds a significant presence in the upcoming political landscape.
