21-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg will have to pay the state 6,000 Swedish kronor (approximately $550) for defying law enforcement, writes Deutsche Welle.

A court in Stockholm fined Thunberg for her participation in at least two protests in March near the Swedish parliament building, blocking the entrance for lawmakers. The activists ignored the police demand to cease their actions, so they were removed by force.

In court, Thunberg stated that she refused to end the protest because “we are facing a climate crisis and have a duty to act.” She also complained to the judge that “current laws protect mining companies, not people and the planet.” This is the third fine from the Swedish judiciary for Thunberg’s refusal to comply with the police.

In Germany, the local branch of the climate movement Fridays for Future distanced itself from Greta Thunberg’s views on the Israel-Hamas conflict. The German branch of climate activists also distanced itself from the international group due to its pro-Palestinian posts on Instagram.
