Passengers of the railway carrier RegioJet were bitten by bedbugs in a coupe carriage overnight from Thursday to Friday. During the journey from Prague to eastern Slovakia, a couple of passengers found parasites in their bedding. Upon raising the issue, company staff relocated them to another carriage. Regiojet stated that it has taken note of this incident and is actively investigating it, according to iROZHLAS.

On May 2nd, a couple traveled from Prague to eastern Slovakia on a RegioJet train. They departed from the departure station at 21:52, and tickets to the waiting room were purchased. In such situations, the company offers compensation to passengers for the journey.

“Compensation is transferred directly to the client’s account in the form of credit, which can be used to purchase another ticket or receive compensation in cash at our branch. In cases where passengers are affected, we also provide additional assistance, including covering the costs of disinfection or extermination,” the company said.

Although the couple of passengers received their money automatically in the form of credit in the app, they feel that the communication from the carrier in general was disappointing. The problem was reported immediately upon arrival both in writing and through the information line.

Last year, panic spread across Europe over bedbugs after people reported seeing them in public places in Paris. However, in many cases, they were not bedbugs at all.
