April of this year has set a new record as the warmest in history for the eleventh straight month, reports Novinky.

According to the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service, the average global temperature for April reached 15.03 degrees Celsius, surpassing the average from 1991 to 2020 by 0.67 degrees Celsius.

Earlier in January, Copernicus announced that last year was the warmest on record, with an average global temperature of 14.98 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record set in 2016. This April exceeded the previous maximum from 2016 by 0.14 degrees globally.

Although Europe narrowly missed breaking its own record for warmest April, with temperatures 1.49 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average, it still ranked as the second warmest April on record. Eastern Europe experienced the most above-average temperatures, while Scandinavia and Iceland saw below-average temperatures.
