During parachute jumps at the NATO exercises in Swedish Sjölanda on Tuesday, 11 military personnel were injured, reports Aftonbladet. According to a representative of the Army Staff Joakim Elovsson, the soldiers sustained injuries and fractures. They were taken to hospitals in Linköping and Jönköping.

He added that nine of the injured military personnel had to be evacuated by helicopter. At the same time, no Swedish soldiers were injured. Military personnel from the United States, Hungary, and Italy also arrived for the exercises. The nationality of the injured is not specified.

A total of 600 to 800 NATO member military personnel made parachute jumps at the Hagshult airbase throughout Tuesday.

Turkey began large-scale naval exercises on Monday, which will take place off its coasts. Military exercises involving 15 countries began in Estonia on Monday.

Large-scale exercises are also being conducted in Lithuania, where a “training” curfew will be in effect in certain areas of Vilnius and Kaunas on Wednesday night.
