Air India Express flights faced interruptions due to unexpected absences of cabin crew members, causing delays and cancellations since Tuesday evening, according to a statement by the airline.

The company disclosed that a portion of their cabin crew reported sudden illness, resulting in the disruptions. They are currently engaged in discussions with the affected crew members to address the situation, Reuters reports.

These disruptions add to the challenges faced by India’s aviation sector, following Vistara Airlines, owned by Tata Group, reducing operations due to a shortage of pilots in April. Tata Group had previously announced plans for the merger of Air India with Vistara and Air India Express with Air Asia back in 2022.
