The sixth victim of the bridge collapse in Baltimore has been found, as reported by Der Spiegel. At the end of March, a container ship collided with a highway bridge, resulting in the deaths of six people. Now, the last victim has been found, while the ship’s crew still remains on board.

Nearly a month and a half after the collapse of a major highway bridge in Baltimore, the sixth and final fatality was discovered. Local authorities announced this on Tuesday evening. A police spokesman expressed this with a heavy heart as a significant advancement in the rescue efforts. Thoughts are with the families of the victims of this tragic event.

At the end of March, the container ship “Dali” collided with a pillar of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing the collapse of the over 2.5-kilometer-long, four-lane highway bridge. Two people were rescued, six men died. The victims were construction workers of Latin American origin who were carrying out repairs on the bridge at the time of the accident.

The damaged container ship “Dali” is still at the scene of the accident but is expected to be brought to the port of Baltimore in the coming days to resume shipping traffic. This will involve removing the debris of the bridge still on the ship. Meanwhile, the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. The 21-member crew of the “Dali,” hailing from India and Sri Lanka, therefore remains on board the ship.
