In Berlin, police dispersed Palestinian demonstrators who had occupied the inner courtyard of the Free University of the German capital, according to AP.

Protesters set up about 20 tents in the university courtyard and formed a human chain around them. Most of the participants covered their faces with medical masks and wrapped scarves around their heads. They also chanted slogans like “Long live Palestine.”

Berlin police used loudspeakers to call on students to leave the campus. Law enforcement also removed some students when clashes erupted between police and protesters. Pepper spray was used against some demonstrators.

The university administration stated that the protesters rejected any dialogue, so they called the police to clear the area.

“Occupation is unacceptable at the campus of the Free University of Berlin. We are open to academic dialogue – but not in this way,” said university president Günter Ziegler.

The administration stated that some protesters attempted to enter rooms and lecture halls of the Free University to occupy them.

In recent days, students have staged protests or set up camps in Finland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom, echoing Palestinian protests on American campuses.
