Watch the shocking moment an elderly woman is knocked over by a reversing car on a leafy street in London's 'Little India'. 

The incident took place on Alexandra Avenue in Southall at around 12.30pm on Sunday 5 May. 

In the footage, taken from a nearby CCTV camera, an elderly lady can been seen walking down the road, seemingly unaware that a white vehicle is reversing behind her. 

The motorist, also unaware that the woman is walking in the road, smacks straight into her, causing her to go flying across the tarmac.

The Met Police said there were no injuries or arrests. 

The footage, which was published on X by the social media account UB1UB2 West London, left its followers deeply divided over who was in the wrong in the video; the driver or the pedestrian?

One user wrote : 'Her fault what's she doing walking in the middle of the road?' 

Another said: '[That's what] happens if you walk in middle of a road.' 

However others disagreed: 'People trying to say it's the pedestrians fault makes me worry...Everyone has a duty of care for their own safety, but it isn't 'illegal' to walk on a road.'

A fourth added: 'The driver is at fault for neglecting to check the mirrors.'

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: 'Police were called at 12:31hrs on Sunday, 5 May to a report of a collision at Alexandra Avenue, Southall.

'At the scene a car had been in collision with a female pedestrian. The driver of the car stopped at the scene. The pedestrian did not suffer any injuries.

'There were no arrests and no offences disclosed.'

A London ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called at 12:34pm on Sunday, 5 May to reports of an incident involving a car and a pedestrian, on Alexandra Avenue, Southall, UB1.

'We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.

'Our crews were cancelled en route as we were informed the patient had left the scene.'
