Argentinian President Javier Milei is set to visit the Czech Republic in mid-June, where he will be honored with the annual award from the Liberal Institute.

Additionally, Milei will deliver a lecture in Prague on June 18th, as announced by the Liberal Institute and the Anglo-American University in a joint press release on Monday. While details regarding potential meetings with top politicians during his visit remain undisclosed, the ultra-liberal economist, Milei, who assumed office on December 10th, has been swift in implementing numerous measures aimed at reshaping economic and social legislation.

Jiří Schwarz, founder of the Liberal Institute and rector of the Anglo-American University, characterized Milei’s stance as advocating for anarcho-capitalism and promoting a minimal role of the state in society.

Milei’s initial reforms have shown some positive impact, particularly in the public sector’s performance and foreign trade balance. However, they have yet to effectively curb inflation and poverty rates in Argentina, according to Reuters.

The Liberal Institute annually bestows its prestigious prize to individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of liberal thought and the practical implementation of ideas promoting freedom, private property, competition, and the rule of law. Past recipients of this esteemed award include Nobel laureates in economics such as Milton Friedman, Gary Becker, and James Buchanan.
